Whew. There's a lot of upcoming material underway for Algarothsyum. I suppose I can comment on how long it's been since I've posted last, but there's no need. I'm posting right now!
First of all - the band lineup didn't work out. At least not this time. With scheduling conflicts with my job being the main factor, maintaining a full line-up proved to be pretty difficult at this time. But in the future? I don't see why not. The unpredictability of military life makes everything else a bit more complicated than it needs to be. So, Algarothsyum stays a solo project.
But on a better note, I've been working on the new album! At this time, it's about 60% completed so far. I started working on it back in August, and progress has been smooth and steady so far. The new album is called "The Obsidian Towers", and is a continuation of the concept behind the first album. And speaking of the concept, I have another interesting bit of news to share, a bit further down.
To give you a brief rundown on the new album without divulging too much juicy information... "The Obsidian Towers" will be an album of seven tracks - six originals, and a secret cover song being the seventh. The album originally started out as an EP, but since damn near each song exceeds 8 minutes, I think that blows it out of the EP ballpark. Regardless, the album will be name-your-price on Bandcamp, just like "Wastelander's Epoch" is. The album will contain 7-string guitar work, more leads and solos, keyboards, and more atmospheric textures. Just as the first album, the goal is to have the listener completely immerse themselves into the post-apocalyptic story. I you enjoyed the first album, there will be much more to love about this release. I'm absolutely excited about the progress, and I'm anxious to release it to the fans.
So now for the other bit of news... I'm expanding much further on the concept of the music by writing a story that coincides with the albums. Writing fiction has always been a rarely touched upon, but very enjoyed hobby of mine, and I thought it would be perfect to write alongside the music and the concept behind it. I find it much more appealing and fulfilling than lyrics could ever be. I love the appeal of instrumental music, so it stays that way. The story, being a completely separate medium, can get as detailed as I want it to be, and I feel that's important. So I've kept myself busy with that as well.
All I ask is bear with me, folks. I maintain a pretty busy life with a military job and a family. I work on the album when I get the chance. But I can assure you that it will be well worth the wait. I hope you're looking forward to delving yourself further into the post-apocalyptic tragedy that is contained in the world of Algarothsyum. It only gets darker and heavier.
As I don't keep up with this blog too often (if you didn't notice), I do however update the Algarothsyum Facebook page regularly. If you haven't "liked" it yet, go for it so you can stay up-to-date on album progress.
